Analisis Morfologi Ulat Sagu (Rynchophorus ferrugineus)

Ulat sagu (larva Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) merupakan salah satu bahan makanan bagi masyarakat Luwu. Ulat sagu tersebut mengandung 9,34 – 13,80 % protein dan 18,09-18,25 % lemak. Pemanenan ulat sagu umumnya dilakukan pada saat ulat sagu berada pada fase instar 5 dan 6. Oleh karena itu, morfologi ulat sagu pada setiap fase instar perlu diketahui. Penelitian ini menggunakan ulat sagu berukuran 0,3 cm dan dibudidayakan pada medium limbah pohon dan sisa ampas sagu sebanyak 2 kg. Pengamatan dilaksanakan selama 53 hari dengan rentang waktu pengamatan 3 hari sekali. Morfologi yang diamati adalah morfologi kepala, warna badan, jumlah segmen, ukuran, dan berat masing-masing ulat sagu. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa instar 1 ditandai dengan segmen tubuh yang belum terlihat jelas, instar 2 memiliki 9 segmen tubuh, tubuh instar 3 sebanyak 10 segmen, dan instar 4-6 memiliki 11 segmen tubuh. Perbedaan instar 4-6 adalah pada instar 5 bagian ekornya melengkung dengan 3 garis cokelat sedangkan pada instar 6 terdapat antena.
